Teachers today need to be contingent of the fact the technology is ubiquitous.The Internet is not going to get away and instead it is going to become even more important feature in the lives of the children and students we teach. Change is now happening at an exponential rate which makes it difficult to plan for tomorrow not to mention a year or two ahead. We need to give the workers of tomorrow the skills to navigate this uncertainty and succeed. This is where the 4 Cs of 21st Century skills comes in.

"'Scenarios can’t predict the future, so what’s the point?”
Scenarios are really not designed to predict the future in themselves. Scenarios help us think of the unthinkable. We are constantly shocked when the unthinkable happens yet it happens regularly. We need to be able to cope with such events. The future is uncertain and so in an uncertain world predicting with historical and statistical data will not show us the unthinkable. This data does not point out to us that small changes can have drastic effects.
The problem I see with scenarios is not deciding to use them but it is asking the right question and then researching the most appropriate data to build your scenarios. If you can do this and then identifying the strategy that leads to success under all possible future conditions identified you are on a winner. This is trying to optimise across all scenarios to achieve your goals. Some times we know certain things will happen some of these driving forces can be political, societal, economic, technological and environmental. Once you have identified say 4 scenarios apply them and monitor them over a set time period and adjust them according as changes occur.
As you notice changes you identify how effective your scenarios are and adapt them to be more effective.

Planning Education Scenarios
I feel planning good education scenarios is a very important aspect of teaching and particularly so in the in the 21st century.
I am not a blogger of any note. However I read lots of blogs but contribute very little. I suppose you could classify my activity so far as a lurker.
I am a researcher in education with a particular interest in technology and what it can afford teaching and learning. I believe the Internet has offers the ordinary individual opportunities to learn and develop personally unlike any other time in human history.
Everyone with Internet access has the largest library ever built at there fingertips. Now with the advent of Open Educational Resources the potential to learn more is even greater. This coupled with massive open on-line courses has added an even more exciting flavour to the mix.
I curate Open Education Resources as part of my research and I would like to share them here for anyone who is interested. Its a Diigo site and the URL is: the Link .
